“ This place is super cute and has some great desserts! I visited with friends and we got a couple of desserts. All of them tasted so good! The decor was adorable and very intimate- low lighting, small tables. We sat at the large table that spins. It was cool, but it made me feel a little dizzy, so be careful if you're prone to vertigo like me haha. I wasn't a huge fan of the host's attitude. I've heard it's part of this coffee house's "thing," but I felt kinda intimidated by it. They added a pretty big service charge to our order, so be aware of that if you visit. ”

“ A Portland classic spot serving late-night desserts, coffee, and teas. The inside is as cozy as can be with eclectic decors and trinkets. The house is even known to be haunted! The Cobbler and Ginger Cake we got were wonderful. Super delicious without being too sweet. A lot of people got the Brownie Sundae and Raspberry Fool so those will definitely be next for us. Their Eggnog Latte was 10/10 too but the Hot Cocoa was a tad too sweet for me. The crowd does get big so go right when they open! The staff was super fun and funny too. ”

“ Yesterday was a rough day (election day) so we decided to go for a sweet treat at a new place. After arrival we were greeted by someone who pointed at a table and said "you guys can sit there" we walked over and after awhile we were greeted by someone. This is how it went. "Hey." "hello!" "just for future reference, you turn the light ON when you're ready" "what do you want?" I was so taken aback, I felt like I had seriously offended this person who I was just about to compliment on their apron which was adorable. I kept it to myself and ordered. The sweets were dropped and immediately after the check was too. I understand that tensions were high yesterday, I manage a restaurant and honestly even with those circumstances I would never speak to anyone this way. Had the host told us to turn the light on we obviously would have? Even then, I genuinely don't understand the tone. The desserts were good though so there's that. Maybe I was missing something. I just feel like if the little light was that serious they should've put a note on the table or something in case the host/ whoever was seating forgot to mention it. ”

“ Rimsky was, and still is, one of the unholy assortment of places that night owls (like I used to be) flocked to, after stumbling out of a metal concert late at night, seeking a place to nurse our wounds and something to sponge up the booze. We lost Le Bistro Montage during COVID (even if they rose from the ashes in the form of food carts), and Roxy shortly thereafter. Thankfully the Hot Cake House is still chugging along. And then there's Rimsky: the devilish dessert destination that dares and delights date and diners alike! They like to play up the haunted vibe here, and I've heard this place self-described as "casually threatening", which is probably one of my favorite descriptions of any place, ever, and they live up to this moniker. The aesthetic is eclectic and a little off-putting, and the irreverent servers toy with their guests like a cat batting around a ball of yarn, always approaching the edge but always coming short of pushing you over it. And then there's the coffee and desserts: not exactly two of my favorite things, but when done correctly, they can be wonderful, especially when paired together. I've thoroughly enjoyed an affogato and a chocolate pot de crème here, as well as some fantastic espresso...and this is coming from someone who can eat one slice of birthday cake and be done with sugar for the next six months, and whose "regular" coffee order is a spearmint or Earl Grey tea. Rimsky-Korsakoffee is a fantastic spot to end on a first date: it'll give you a good idea of your partner's flexibility and sense of humor...if you can get in the door, that is - they are ALWAYS busy, so plan ahead and be patient, if necessary. And I know the "is it haunted?" question gets asked a lot, but it really doesn't matter, because once you visit here even once, the specter of its recollection will be bedeviling you for years to come. ”

“ Great fun quirky place! Can be lovely for date nights or with a couple friends if you're looking to grab something sweet. Turned this house into a lovely cafe. It can be a bit too dim, in case anyone has trouble seeing but would encourage anyone to try it. It does seem popular so wait times can vary, waited about 30-40min to get seated. I would say it is not group friendly, the tables do seem very close together. Went with 2 other friends and it seems like the perfect amount of space. I do recommend trying it but not to overstay and be considerate for the people waiting to be seated. Servers are great, very quick and patient. If you want more immediate service there is a little light up candle to turn on when you need service, didn't know that until we turned it on by accident. Hot Chocolate was nice, wished it was more hot but that's my preference. Wanted to try coffee but it was already late in the evening. Hot Fudge Sundae was very delicious tho! And satisfied my sweet tooth! Overall great experience. ”
